Blooming Prairie, MN, May, 2013 – Walt Keeney knows how to transport bulk food products. He understands the rigors of the industry and the need for the right trucking equipment that works and keeps his loads clean and safe from debris.

“I’m so excited about the Minimizer fender because of how dynamic the product is,” Walt stated during a recent interview. “It’s dynamic because not only is the product durable but the adaptability and flexibility of the fenders and bracket kits to meet our equipment needs is incomparable.”

The second-generation trucker and President of Food Express, Inc., with headquarters in Arcadia California, founded the company in 1983. The core business of transporting bulk cornstarch from California throughout the Pacific Northwest and back hauling bakery flour to California has expanded to include all forms of vacuum pneumatic and food grade pneumatic trailers for both dry and liquid food grade bulk transportation.

The company has grown from an initial 7 tractor and trailer combinations to a current total of over 165 tractors and 310 trailers.

Food Express began using Minimizer fenders on their rigs several years ago because the food industry requires carriers to keep loads and trucks clean. Spray suppression is paramount to achieving this goal and Food Express found that no fender did a better job then Minimizer fenders.

“We saw the brand promises from Minimizer about their fenders not needing paint, never fading, never rusting, never stress cracking, and never needing polishing and we felt we should give the product a try,” explained Walt. “The brand promises proved to be true. But one of the most exciting elements of the product was the ability to reverse the fenders and have light boxes facing both backward and forward to help us when reversing our trailers into tight spots at night. This was a strong product differentiator for us.”

“We set up our rear axles to have the light boxes facing backwards as usual,” continued Walt, “And our forward axles would have the fenders turned around so that the light boxes faced forward and provided the visibility our drivers needed under the trailers when unloading up at night.

Minimizer Company CEO and Chief Visionary Craig Kruckeberg weighed in on this unique use of the product: “We have had other companies use this set up of turning our fenders around to direct forward lighting. It is a terrific use of our LED light box product and demonstrates the flexibility of Minimizer fenders and bracket kits.”
